Foodie Spotlight: Alex Price

I love the promise of a healthy eating plan, especially when getting ready for summer holidays and looking to lose a few pounds. 


While browsing through recipes and meal plans on Mealz I came across Clean Start by DNA - Daily Nourishment Alliance. The meal plan was absolutely brilliant and was exactly what I was looking for: healthy digestions, weight loss, and immunity boost! What else can you wish for? Always in search for the beautiful, unique and inspiring authors, I decided to find out who was behind all these delicious and nourishing recipes!? This is how Mealz team met lovely Alex Price. 

Alex turned out to be a Nutrition guru. After graduating in BSc Education & Nutrition, she became a certified Associate Diabetes Educator, Nutritionist, and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Today Alex is a Founder & CEO of Daily Nourishment Alliance Holistic Health Coaching, where she works one-on-one with patients to create healing plans based on nutrient-dense whole foods.

"My mission is to support a healthy lifestyle by improving health, happiness, and eating practices in a sustainable and achievable manner", says Alex and that is exactly what she does. She helps patients achieve their health goals including weight loss, improved digestion, stress reduction and exercise and specializes in Diabetes Prevention and Control. 

According to American Association of Diabetes Educators, obesity continues to reach epidemic levels, with over one-third of U.S. adults being obese. The food we eat directly impacts our blood glucose levels and body weight. Every 6 seconds one person dies of disease as a result of diabetes. There is no doubt that not only it is a huge problem already but also the burden of diabetes is constantly increasing. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that, as of 2010, "one in five older Americans had been diagnosed with diabetes."

"I believe in the world without cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, Dementia, and Heart Disease," said Alex and my heart skipped a bit. (I felt truly proud to have authors like Alex on Mealz!)

Healthy eating can delay the onset of diabetes and co-morbid conditions, that is why Alex created a line of healthy, low carb/sugar (no refined sugars), low sodium, gluten-free, vegan, and all organic ingredient desserts, snacks, and confectioneries.

Alex's dishes and desserts have the familiar comfort food quality, but are crafted from healthy ingredients that will help to stabilize one's sugar levels, blood pressure, control hunger and overeating, give the body needed nutrients in the form of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, essential nutrients and minerals to support and maintain one's health. We have now tried quite a few recipes shared by beautiful Alex and we must say that all of them were mouthwatering! Give it a try and see for yourself!
